## Heartbit: yad (yet another draft)

  1. protag goes bike hiking with their friend
  2. they make a stop for the night and camp in a forest
  3. protag awoken by strange sound
  4. protag goes to check it out
  5. strange door, seemingly to nowhere
  6. wooaaaah protag is teleported to some big.. space habitat?
  7. An A.I., Paradis, is in control of the whole thing. They tell protag that their arrival was not intended and is some sort of mistake and that theyre going to wipe their memories of seeing this and send them back
  8. Protag is like no wait im curious about this place
  9. Paradis: hmmm okay. i give you 3 days. if i still deem you untrustworthy after that you get the memory wipe and leave

after that the "proper" story starts. you hang out with the robot guys and gain their trust 👍
some endings where [character] wants to come with you back to earth, some where you end up staying, you can romance paradis and overlook the place together with them

okaaaaay some details:

- both the place and the AI are called Paradis. Maybe to differentiate the place is spelled "Paradis" and the AI "Paradi". i dunno. maybe not
- theres all sort of facilities there, its like a space city. theres greenery. there are also things that robots normally wouldnt need, ehich is weird, because protag is the only organic being on board
- paradis is something like a ship ai. controls everything, is aware of most things going on, etc
- the doors that lead to paradis emit ultrasound and radio waves. because protag can hear higher frequencies than most, they are awoken by the door and their buddy isnt
- also i was thinking to make the non robot characters furries. just because
- pretty much only machine people with Problems and life dilemmas are lead here. its kind of like infinity train. because in this world there arent that many machine people and a lot of them are scared of being found out and invoking fear this is pretty much most machine people
- most of the guys on Paradis come from Earth, but there are like 1-2 that are from alien civilizations
- paradis isn't that big, theres only like 5 people living in it
- in terms of tone I think we should crank up the silly in the overall setting. not everything needs to make sense.
- doesnt mean we cant have some serious character storylines, though. i have a couple of ideas for that

an alternate but similar storyline is that theres no supernatural shit involved, protag just goes wandering in the woods at night and stumbles across a self sustainable settlement of machine people. Memory wipe stuff still comes into play.
I personally like the space stuff more because its weird and has silly potential

## prologue

"..."
"Hey..."
"It's getting dark..."
Not to mention, my legs are sore from half a day of pedalling...

"..."
"Yeah, we should stop for the night."
He gradually slows, letting the remaining momentum carry him a couple more meters.
Then he gets off his bike. And I do, too.

"I don't like night stops in forests..."

"Unfortunately, we don't really have a choice, ha."
"It's way too late and we're way too tired to find proper lodging."
"I thought we'd make it to the next town by sunset..."
"Gah, I should've planned better."

"No worries, dude. I'm still having a good time."

"I'll protect you from any scary forest monsters, so you don't have to worry about that."

"Right now, I'm more concerned with finding a decent camping spot."
"Let's have a look around."

...

"Oh, look. A clearing. This looks like good, right?"

"So it does."
"Looks like someone else has stopped here before. There's a campfire circle over there."

"Do we need fire, though?... "
"We don't really have anything to cook, and our sleeping bags more than warm enough."

"No, but it's reassuring to see someone has been here."

"Ah, I see."
"Well... Let's get the tent ready."

It only takes a few moments to set up the tent.
It's decently spacious.
We pull our sleeping bags out, and soon we are settled down and ready to drift to sleep.

" 'Night."
" 'Night, Mati."

...

W... What's that noise?
I can't sleep. It's too loud...
It's hurting my brain. It's like it's some ultrasound emitter.
We're in the middle of nowhere, though. Who and why would want to use one here?
...
I'm going to investigate.

There's a... door. It doesn't seem to lead anywhere. It seems to be the thing that's emitting the horrible sound.
I don't see anything else of interest nearby.
Hmm...

> Open the door
> Go back

I open the strange door.
The noise stops, and before I can understand what's happening, everything's washed out by a new, sudden sensation:
I feel like I'm falling. Really, really fast.
I can't see anything but brief flashes of light around me.
After a while, everything stops. I hit the ground.
I open my eyes.
Where am I?... What even is this place?
The screen in front of me lights up.
"Welcome, troubled soul! I-"
"Oh. Uh..."
"You're not meant to be here."
Well, not surprising. I have no clue what I'm doing here.
"Not to worry though. I can send you right back where you came from."
"I will have to clear your memories of your being here first, though."

> "Wait just a second!"
> "As long as I get to go back home..."

"Listen, I'm not sure about this memory wiping business..."
"I, uh, promise not to tell anyone about the door?"

"..."
"I need to think about this. Give me a moment."
"Hmmmmm..."
"Would you prefer being kept here?"

"Like, forever?"

"OH, um..."
"Of course not."
"..."
"Alright, here's the deal:"
"I'm going to let you stay for three days. In that time I'll have a good long think about whether it's a good idea for you to leave without memory deletion."
"After that, I will make the final decision."
"It may not be the outcome you want, but you must understand..."
"I'm doing this for my and my denizens' safety."

"Denizens?"

"You'll meet them soon enough."

A passageway opens.

"Go on, go through. You should probably talk to the others. Even if I'm getting you out of here when I'm able."
"We can chat again later."
The monitor turns off.
That's that, I suppose.
I don't see anything of interest here. I have no other choice but to follow the screen's orders.

And so, I exit the room I arrived in.
What greets me is something I would describe as a... lounge, or lobby.
The space itself isn't the only thing that greets me, as I'm approached by a robot... with a microwave for a head.

Ding! (Hello!)
Beep beep boop. (Who are you?)

Well, this is new.

Another machine enters my vision. It seems to be some sort of animal-like animatronic... With its cuddly exterior removed, leaving only a metal skeleton.

## Microwave man route

Summary:

- He wants to learn to cook, but it always felt like a waste with no one around who could eat it.

## Animatronic route

Summary:

- They used to "work" at a themed restaurant. They hated it. They have ripped off their plush "skin" and are trying to find themself.
